“Every primary school should have a library and every teacher should be teaching kids to LOVE to read. This is the greatest gift you can give a child.”

The Rotary Learning Library is a major project of RC Kromboom who, with generous sponsorship from DHL, Speedlink & Nexlog, cooperates with Rotary Clubs throughout the southern African Region, comprising the 8 English-speaking countries and serving parts of Mozambique, D9120, where English is spoken.

The clubs purchase the project’s amazing Rotary-branded Usborne publications and donate them to needy schools and libraries, thereby facilitating significant literacy and learning for our young people and contributing to a brighter future for all!

The Rotary Learning Library was launched by RC Kromboom in 2008 in a bid to foster a love of learning  in Southern Africa. It was initially called The Dictionary Project, then changed to The Dictionary & Atlas Project and is now The Rotary Learning Library, which reflects our growing selection of publications.

Rotary Clubs are encouraged to purchase the books and donate them to local impoverished schools and libraries. In addition clubs can boost their funds by introducing Corporates,  which  would gain both  tax and  BBE advantages (in South Africa) .for their Corporate Social Investment programmes.

The Project is supported by many senior Rotarians who, as Patrons and members of Advisory Boards throughout Southern Africa, donate their time and influence to publicise the Project.  The Rotary Foundation has over the years received donations of R250,000 back from the Project, acknowledging earlier grant support.

We are keen to upload load photographs of club interaction with beneficiary organisations and encourage Rotarians to forward medium- sized jpg photographs to  admin@dictionariesforafrica.com,  together with success stories or compliments, which will be added to the TESTIMONIALS section of our website.
